    Over budget by $63.63

    February expenses were much better when compared with last month.   My gas use was very low because I was stuck inside for a whole week due to the snow storm.

    My food expenses have gone up because (1) I am eating out a whole lot more with friends and (2) I am feeling down about my legal career prospects and haven’t really had the energy nor the desire to cook.

  • You must eat like a hummingbird! Your groceries and dining out expenses combined is roughly what I spend for my monthly groceries AND dining out expenditures SEPARATELY! ($125 and $141, respectfully) …I’m jealous -_-

  • Well thank goodness I wasn’t the only one eating my way through Feb! LOL! Don’t be down, Jane. Things will look-up. Keep going on those networking lunch/dinner dates so that you can gather more information about the current state of the field and any potential leads.

  • Jane, you CANNOT feel down about your legal career! I already did that when I was graduating, and it doesn’t help. You want to do securities/financial regulatory work (and bless you for it, because the thought makes me cringe, as I’m sure litigation does for you :D ), then find the top firms for it, find alums at those firms who do it, look at branch offices–there tend to be a few in the same region, like at Tyson’s or something, and start networking your tail off. See if they know anyone, bring your resume and see if they’ll pass it on to the powers that be, or if they’re cool to let you use their name as a contact. Even if you got hired as a contract attorney (grunt work extraordinaire), I’ve seen it turn into full attorney positions before. Keep hustlin girl.

    And eat something. My word, WHAT do you eat for $60/month???

  • $63.63 is not too bad.

    You can perhaps cut back $63.63 in March to make up for February. But then again, March has 31 days and Feb only had 28 days.

    It’s nice to eat out with friends from time to time. I do that with my closest girlfriends on a monthly basis. Friends are important during tough and depressing times. So it’s ok that you spent going out to eat with them for company.

    Cheer up and good luck with in your legal field.

    LOL…I don’t think anyone would describe me as eating like a humming bird, but I come across a lot of events at school with free food. So that definitely helps.

    @InvestingNewbie
    Thank you very much for your support!

    @Ronnie
    Thanks for your encouragement! I am gonna keep hustlin’! And I actually eat a lot. I take full advantage of events with food at school.

    @MoneyHoneySF
    Thanks for your support! I have a special friend in town and we love going out to eat and exploring new cuisines. I am gonna try to keep all food expenses under $100 for March.

  • Hang in there! It’s all attitude and a numbers game! Keep trying, don’t get depressed!

    My month expenses normally running a bit over around $4,000. But next month, it should only be around $2,700! I’ll be glad, but I hope to eventually get them under $2,500!

    I like the idea networking! Perhaps some of your friends could get you in somewhere!
