Taxes 2010
11
February 22nd, 2010Income, tax-deduction, tax-freeLast year I made a big fat mistake by paying $310 for my tax preparation. This year I did my taxes using H&R Block’s free tax prep software for my federal and then paid $10.55 for DC and home state. It wasn’t worth it to pay $10.55 each for the home state one but it did save me a whole lot of time so I forked over the money. It feels so good to be done.
Federal $6,834
DC: $921
Home State: $24
Cost: -$21.10
Total = $7,757.90

I usually like to do my tax return early, but this year I decided to wait for the tax software packages to get all of their updates out.
That’s a nice return you’ll be getting back

Holy Cow! $6,834 + $921 = $7,755
Any plans for the refund(s)?

I really need to do my taxes already. I should be getting money back too so I don’t know what’s holding me up (probably sheer laziness). I’d also be interested to hear about what you’re planning on doing with all that moolah!

Nice! I’m jealous that you are in school and milking that Lifetime Learning Credit!!! Unless your Fed Refund is big because of lying… then in that case, I’m not jeal at all.

I’m so bad. I have not done my taxes yet. DH has all his paperwork waiting to file with our accountant. But I happen to be holding this process up.
That’s some nice BIG chunk change you’re able to get back this year. What are you going to do with all that money?

Wow! Good for you.
I think I’m going to try to crank my taxes out with a pencil and Schedule C form. I earned $290 over the threshold to declare for self-employed income for federal and state taxes, but kind of hate to get a Turbo Tax upgrade since that would be a pretty large percentage of my earnings, sigh.

That’s a huge refund, and sounds like you have a good home waiting for it. I have not done our taxes yet… I may file an extension again this year if time keeps flying by so fast as it has been.

Oh my goodness.
Is that a $7k refund?
