It’s Good to Have Generous Friends…
3
January 30th, 2010FreeYesterday, I got the chance to see the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in the Concert Hall from the Presidential Box. It’s good to have friend’s interning at the White House! The Presidential Box only had 12 seats and of that 10 were being used. Everyone else seemed to be actual White House staff. We were super excited and had a great time. We were the last to leave the box and I wanted to take a picture of the sign that said “Presidential Box” outside and my friend wanted to take a picture of her going into the Presidential Box. By this time the Presidential Box attendant left so we were clicking away and that is when the less-than-ideal-moment of the night happened.

A red coated attendant came out of nowhere and in her nasty, snarly voice asked us, “Who said you could go in there?!” I was shocked at her rudeness and said, “Uh, we have tickets for it…” turning to my bag to fish them out and my friend said, “We were just in the box.” I really thought she was going to ask to see the tickets but the red coated evil attendant nodded and moved on. I told my friend that we should take it as a complement. It’s just that we were so “youthful” looking that she couldn’t believe we would actually have tickets to the box!

The actual Presidential Box attendant encouraged us to take anything that we wanted and of course, we did!

I have some more pictures of how it looks inside the box but I think I better keep them to myself. This is going under my list of “Things I Never Thought I Would Get To Do!”

I love things that are just “so DC.” That is definitely one of them. Sounds like a fun time.
