roseI have been wanting to get an oil change ever since I got back home and finally I decided to check out the new Express Oil change in town.  Their regular oil change price is $35.99.  This is way more than I pay at Bob’s Auto but I was feeling adventurous and wanted to try something different.  On Tuesday’s Express Oil has a Ladies Day promotion that will knock the price of the oil change down to $30.99.  Off I went this morning for an oil change.

When I pulled into Express Oil I was told not to get out of my car and to just pull into their work area.  As soon as I pulled in I was told I can stay in the car because it would only take 10 minutes.  I was also presented with a rose because it was Ladies Day.  Soon I popped the hood and two men started probing and filling my low fluids.  I was presented with a $32.62 and a request for my autograph and I was out of there as soon as I pulled in all without getting out of my car.  The service was excellent, it was quick and I loved my beautiful rose.  But, I couldn’t help thinking how much I really paid for this rose.  I called Bob’s Auto to find out the exact price of their oil change and with taxes it came to $27.75.  Hmmm…let’s see here.  Express Oil’s $32.62 – Bob’s Auto’s $27.75 = $5.37.  Whoa, that is one expensive rose!

So, I overpaid for the oil change but it sure was nice being treated like a queen.   Next time I will keep the $5.37.

  • When I was younger, I use to change my oil myself.

But now I go to Walmart, drop of my car, do my shopping, them pick up my car and go. In my area, their service only changes $20.00. While it’s cheaper to do it myself, I like the idea of getting two things done at the same time (or killing 2 birds with one stone).

It’s great to see you back!!!

  • Thanks Don. The Wal-Mart in my area doesn’t do oil changes, but the Sam’s Club does and since I am not a member I don’t use their servies. $20 is pretty good.

I was hoping to learn how to change my own oil over the break but after googling it I decided its too complicated right now for me. I need someone who knows how to do it to show me. One of these days I am going to learn.

  • I remember when oil changes at walmart use to be $19.99. I got my oil changed at Walmart the other day and it was $30… What in the world….
